... Criterion Productions

Criterion Productions was launched in December 1993 by Chairman Lord Attenborough and Chief Executive Sally Greene. The initial production was the Laurence Olivier Award-nominated production of Jack starring Nicol Williamson which opened at the Criterion Theatre in June 1994. Its second production was Ronald Harwood’s Taking Sides starring Daniel Massey which played at the Criterion Theatre to great acclaim in 1995/6. This was closely followed by Harold Pinter’s The Hothouse at the Comedy Theatre which starred the author and, like Taking Sides, was presented in association with Duncan C Weldon Criterion Productions plc has also produced a tour of Peter Nichols Privates on Parade and Cyrano do Bergerac at the Lyric Theatre starring Antony Sher, in association with The Royal Shakespeare Company.

As well as Speed-the-Plow Criterion Productions plc is currently co producer of The Weir (Duke of York a Theatre) and Dublin Carol (The Old Vic and Royal Court), both by Conor McPherson and The Reduced Shakespeare Company (in its fifth year and now the longest running comedy in the West End).

The company has recently participated in the following shows: A Delicate Balance starring Maggie Smith; Closer by Patrick Marber in the West End and Broadway; Black Comedy and The Real Inspector Hound at the Comedy Theatre; Do La Guarda at the Roundhouse Theatre; Lenny at the Queens Theatre and the Broadway productions of The Judas Kiss starring Liam Neesom; The Blue Room starring Nicole Kidman; Amy’s View starring Dame Judi Dench; The Weir on Broadway; Antigone at The Old Vic.
